Meg – Double Selection Multicriteria Method Proposal

Among the various problematic addressed by the multicriteria methods of decision aid (selection, ranking, classification and description), none can be found which is focused in selecting a set of predetermined size as better than the others, considering the dynamics among the adopted criteria. This research aims at introducing and illustrating a multicriteria method which tries to solve the double selection problem, which consists of a given set of alternatives not by choosing the two best ones, but the best set of two alternatives. For such, together with the introduction of the method, an illustration of its functioning is also proposed in the solution of a recruiting problem for two positions among ten alternatives, considering eighteen criteria. Once it is desired to choose two alternatives out of ten, actually there is a set of forty-five possible combinations. The proposed method MEG shows itself efficient in comparing that the two alternatives best placed in a weighted ranking are not, necessarily, the best set of two alternatives.
